Newcastle Remodel
Opportunity
Since purchasing the house the clients didn’t love their kitchen. It felt dark, and uninspiring and they wanted new cabinetry, countertop & backsplash. They were tired of the multiple paint colors throughout the main level, and the living, dining and family rooms were just tired and outdated.
Like the rest of the house, the master bathroom was outdated with the typical garden style tub that no one likes; and why was that ever a ‘thing’?! Along with the glass block shower wall. The bathroom is oversized and the clients didn’t know how to change the feeling of wasted space.
Results
In the kitchen we saved the client a significant amount of money and construction mess by not purchasing new cabinets. They were in good shape, but needed touch-up to repair water damage. And by replacing the countertop, backsplash and lighting, we gave the kitchen a much-needed update and created a brighter and more balanced space.
The other rooms on the main level just needed some new furnishings, lighting and paint color. Lighting and paint can do wonders in transforming a space! By painting out the brown painted fireplace to a white that matches the other trim work, helped to unify and make the space feel more grand and elegant and a newly commissioned artwork above the fireplace took it to the next level!
In the master bath we replaced the garden tub with a freestanding tub and changed the glass block tile with a frosted glass panel. By creating a herringbone pattern with the floor tile, adds that needed interest to help detract from the large open space and helps to draw your eye around the room instead of focusing on square tiles. The new plumbing and lighting fixtures gives the space an elegant and luxurious spa-like feel.
