Opportunity

The kitchen was closed to the dining and living room by two walls, which blocked the beautiful mountain and water views. The kitchen was cramped with an awkward peninsula for the cooktop, cramped seating for guests and separated by walls from the dining and living areas. The young millennial couple are both in the tech industry and wanted a mid-century modern updated vibe for entertaining with friends. Opening up the kitchen to capture the views and create an open concept was a must for this remodel. The guest bathroom just needed a refresh to match their clean and modern aesthetic.

Results

They got that clean, white modern kitchen they were looking for, but we were able to offset some of the starkness of all that white by contrasting with walnut trim around the appliance center, the overhang on the island, and the dining room nook. They love how they can appreciate the views while cooking and entertaining.

Testimonial

Melinda was a pleasure to collaborate with during the remodel of our newly purchased home. We knew the house had the potential to be transformed into a beautiful home and Melinda’s attention to detail and ability to convey our desires with the contractor was invaluable. The original kitchen was literally a cramped crackerjack box and Melinda was able to turn our hopes for a larger, more open space for entertaining and enjoying the lake view, into a vision that exceeded our expectations.

As with most construction projects, there were numerous unforeseen issues during the buildout and Melinda was able to quickly adapt the design and propose alternative solutions. Our home is now unique and beautiful while being inviting and functional. We are fortunate this is the space where we have been confined for the past year during pandemic. We will definitely work with Melinda again as we continue with the remaining portions of our home that need remodeling.
